A good loaf of bread has any number of uses.
Here's my favorite basic dough recipe, it's incredibly easy. There's a lot of waiting time, but the effort involved is minimal. I've made a wheat version & used it for thanksgiving rolls too. I used it on one of my first breakfast hub posts: Mascarpone French Toast & Mixed Berry Syrup.
My newest favorite is mixing in Rosemary & Garlic
Making the Dough:
2 Cups Warm Water
1 Tbsp Yeast
4 Cups Flour
1 Tbsp Salt
2 Sprigs Rosemary, Finely Chopped
3 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
Warm the water (only to about 100 degrees) about 30 seconds in the microwave.
Pour water over yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients and mix into a sticky ball.
Let it sit in a warm spot for 2-5 hours before placing it in the fridge.
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees and a place pizza stone in the oven to preheat as well.
Before baking let the dough sit at room temperature while the oven warms up.
Form the dough into a loaf shape and cut5-6 slashes in the top before placing it on the preheated pizza stone.
Put 1 cup of cold water into an oven safe dish (this and the pizza stone will give the bread a nice crust)
Bake for 30-35 minutes, remove from the oven.
Try to let it cool some before slicing, it takes incredible will power that i don't typically have, but try anyway.
Other uses for this bread:
Grilled Cheese!
Rosemary French Toast
(This one sounds odd but it was delicious!)
Happy Cooking!
